Allen Robinson announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, his 33rd birthday, closing out an 11-season career that took him through five franchises: the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers and his hometown Detroit Lions.
A career by the numbers
Robinson finishes with 565 catches for 7,058 yards and 43 touchdowns. His best season came in 2014 with Jacksonville, when he posted 1,400 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, earning his only Pro Bowl selection. In four seasons with the Bears, he racked up 3,561 receiving yards, good for 11th in franchise history, topping 1,000 yards in both 2019 and 2020. He last appeared in an NFL game in 2024, wrapping up his career where he grew up, in Detroit.

How he made the announcement
Robinson posted a nearly nine-minute video to Instagram tracing his football journey from youth football through his final NFL snaps, saying he felt his body "slowing up" and that he appreciated his career coming "full circle" back to Detroit. A second-round pick out of Penn State, he said facing the Green Bay Packers was "always special" to him and recalled exchanging jerseys with Aaron Rodgers after one rivalry matchup.
