An Anne Arundel County judge sentenced Ja'Quan Dontremique Green, 25, on September 23, 2026, to life in prison plus 20 years for the 2022 shooting death of a McDonald's employee at a Gambrills, Maryland drive-thru window.

Britrain Marcelus Gray, 23, of Odenton, was working the overnight shift at the McDonald's at 1130 Crain Highway South around 4:45 a.m. on May 13, 2022, when, according to prosecutors, a man got out of a vehicle, walked up to the drive-thru window and fired three shots from a 9mm handgun at close range.

The trial and sentencing

Green was convicted of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a crime of violence on January 21, 2026, following a seven-day jury trial. Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Elizabeth Morris handed down the life-plus-20-years sentence on September 23. The judge did not impose life without the possibility of parole, a legal distinction that leaves open the future potential for Green to seek parole under Maryland law.
