The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max go on sale today, hitting store shelves and doorsteps in more than 65 countries. Apple Stores have already rearranged their floor layouts to handle the launch-day crowd, and the first wave of pre-order customers are getting their phones delivered today too.
What's Actually New
The headline upgrade is Apple's new A20 Pro chip, built on a 2nm process — a jump that Apple says brings better performance alongside real gains in battery life, helped along by a more efficient chip and a lower-power modem. The camera system also gets a genuine hardware change: a variable aperture on the main lens with four selectable settings, paired with a 48MP triple rear camera setup and an 18MP front camera.
The design holds onto the aluminum unibody Apple introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro, now paired with a second-generation Ceramic Shield on the display and the existing Ceramic Shield on the back. The Dynamic Island has been shrunk down slightly. For the first time, the smaller Pro model also gets a 2TB storage option, a tier that used to be exclusive to the Max.
The Price Went Up
The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 for 256GB and climbs to $2,499 at the 2TB tier. That's $100 more than the iPhone 17 Pro launched at for the same 256GB storage last year — part of a steady climb in Apple's flagship pricing over the past several launches.
Not Just the Phone
The iPhone 18 Pro isn't launching alone today. Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5 are all going on sale alongside it, rounding out the fall hardware lineup Apple unveiled at its September 9 event.
If You're Ordering Today
Demand has already pushed delivery estimates well past launch day. Anyone placing a new order now, rather than during the initial pre-order window, is looking at an estimated delivery window stretching from September 29 to as late as October 13 for some configurations — a sign of just how quickly the initial allocation moved.
