Josh Allen threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as the Buffalo Bills routed the Detroit Lions 41-31 on Thursday night, christening the team's new Highmark Stadium with a statement win.

A Fast Start

Buffalo scored touchdowns on each of its first four possessions to build a 27-7 lead, with Allen opening the stadium's scoring on a 1-yard run before connecting with a wide-open Josh Palmer for a 43-yard strike. Tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox each added touchdown catches of their own in the first half.

Allen's Night

Allen finished with 248 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air, adding 69 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground for his fourth career five-touchdown game. It came a week after he threw for four touchdowns in Buffalo's season-opening 36-31 win at Houston, putting him squarely in the early conversation for MVP.

Detroit Never Fully Caught Up

The Lions clawed back with 31 points of their own, but the deficit Buffalo built early proved too much to overcome. The win moves the Bills to 2-0 to open the season and gives Highmark Stadium a winning debut in its first regular-season game.
