Cal Raleigh hit three home runs at T-Mobile Park on Monday night, the first three-homer game of his career, as the Seattle Mariners routed the Philadelphia Phillies 9-2 and snapped Philadelphia's season-best nine-game winning streak.
How it happened
Julio Rodriguez opened the scoring with a three-run homer in the first inning, part of a five-run frame against struggling Phillies ace Zack Wheeler that included a two-run shot from Raleigh. Raleigh and Cole Young then hit back-to-back home runs to open the fifth, chasing Wheeler from the game, before Raleigh added a solo shot off reliever Chase Shugart in the seventh. He finished 3-for-3 with a walk, pulling all three homers into the right-field seats from the left side of the plate to become the 13th player in franchise history to hit three in a game, and the first Mariner to do it at T-Mobile Park.
A slump-breaking night
The outburst comes after what has been a jarring statistical swing for Raleigh: in 2025, he put together what's been described as the best individual season by a catcher in MLB history, and entered Monday's game in the middle of the worst slump of his career. The three homers pushed his season total to 17 and lifted his batting average from .159 to .167.
For Philadelphia, the loss ended a nine-game run that included a dramatic walk-off win just days earlier, when Kyle Schwarber hit a 459-foot home run in the bottom of the ninth to erase a 4-0 deficit.
