Netflix confirmed a batch of renewals for several of its UK-produced series this week, headlined by a third season of Guy Ritchie's crime drama The Gentlemen, according to Variety, the Hollywood Reporter and Netflix's own newsroom. The announcement came alongside the release of the first full trailer for The Gentlemen's second season, premiering September 3.
What got renewed
Along with The Gentlemen's Season 3 pickup, Netflix confirmed new seasons of Legends, Being Gordon Ramsay and House of Guinness, and said spy thriller Black Doves will return for a second season later this year. Separately, Variety reported that Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker's anthology series, has begun production on its eighth season, with Brooker writing and executive producing alongside Bisha K. Ali.
The Gentlemen's return
The Gentlemen Season 2 brings back Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones and Giancarlo Esposito, joined by new cast members including Hugh Bonneville, Benedetta Porcaroli and Maya Jama, according to Variety. Guy Ritchie, who created the series, said in a statement he is "looking forward to pushing the boundaries further" in the next season. No premiere date has been announced yet for Black Mirror Season 8.
The renewals reflect Netflix's continued investment in UK-produced series, several of which, including The Gentlemen and Black Mirror, have become among the platform's most-watched titles internationally since their debuts.
