Nicki Minaj has spent two decades building a reputation for saying exactly what she thinks, consequences be damned. This week, sitting across from Lara Trump on "My View," she used that same bluntness to make one thing clear: her support for Donald Trump isn't wavering, and she's not interested in staying quiet about it.

"I've made it my mission to be someone that supports him," Minaj told Lara Trump in the interview, which aired this weekend. It's not a new position for her -- but the way she framed it is worth paying attention to, especially with the 2026 midterms weeks away.

What she actually said about Trump

Minaj described Trump as "a very authentic person," and said what appeals to her most is that he speaks without appearing scripted. "He brings this candid, unedited vibe to the White House that we've never before seen," she said. "When you see someone that goes off script, it's like you come alive again, you feel alive."

The midterms pitch

The interview wasn't just about Trump himself -- Minaj used the platform to push young Americans toward the polls, and specifically toward Republican candidates, ahead of the November 3 midterms. "Now is not the time to think that your voice will not be heard," she said. "Your voice will not only be heard, but your voice is very necessary right now for the country and for the world. We need you guys involved. We need you guys involved more than ever before." She told Lara Trump, directly: "vote red now."

This isn't a new turn for her

Minaj's alignment with Trump didn't start with this interview. She's previously served as a celebrity judge for the Small Business Administration's Million Dollar Pitch Competition, appearing at a Treasury Department event in January 2026 as part of the Trump administration's outreach. Trump has publicly praised her in return, calling her a "fantastic person." She's also said before that she won't apologize for supporting him -- a line she's repeated enough that it's become part of how she talks about her politics publicly.

On Democrats and the Black vote

Minaj went further than a simple endorsement, taking direct aim at how she believes the Democratic Party treats Black voters who don't fall in line. "Black people are not allowed, according to the Democrats, for the most part, to make a different decision," she said. "We're not allowed to think. We're not allowed to voice concerns, to make an argument as to why we don't like a particular candidate." She added that people who do step outside that expectation face "smear campaigns and just outright nasty behavior from these adults," and argued Democrats have been "digging their own grave" by assuming Black voters' loyalty rather than earning it. She also said Democrats have gotten "way too caught up in pop culture," accusing the party of letting relationships with artists turn political disagreements "petty and childish."

Where this leaves things

As of publication, IF Daily has not found any on-the-record criticism of Minaj's comments from named public figures -- the interview has circulated widely, but the documented reaction so far is limited to what Minaj herself said and how outlets across the political spectrum have covered it. These are Minaj's stated political views, not claims IF Daily is endorsing or disputing.
