Nine months ago, KPop Demon Hunters was an animated movie on a streaming service. Now it's a Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song Oscar winner, and Netflix wants to put it on stage in front of live audiences in as many as 150 cities.

The Plan

Netflix is negotiating its first-ever world concert tour, built entirely around the film's songs, with shows targeted for 2027 — timed ahead of the movie's already-planned sequel. The venues under discussion are real arenas, the kind that hold 10,000 to 20,000 fans, not one-off screening events.

To pull it off, Netflix is partnering with AEG Presents, and concert promoters have reportedly offered the streamer tens of millions of dollars in upfront guarantees just for the rights to stage it — before a single ticket goes on sale.

Who Actually Shows Up Onstage

The real question for any film-to-concert crossover is what "live" actually means. Netflix has reportedly discussed bringing out the real singers behind the film's fictional group HUNTR/X — Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who voiced and sang the parts — for at least some shows. But virtual performers are also on the table for other stops, meaning the tour could look genuinely different city to city.

Why This Is a Bigger Bet Than It Looks

Animated films turning into stage shows isn't new — Disney has run that playbook for decades. What's different here is the speed and the scale: a movie that premiered on a streaming service, not in a franchise built over years, is being fast-tracked into a global arena tour within about a year of release, on the strength of two Oscar wins and a soundtrack that turned into a genuine hit on its own.

Nothing is confirmed yet. Netflix hasn't finalized a promoter, ticket prices, or a full city list, and there's no guarantee the tour happens exactly as pitched. But for a studio that has never run a global concert tour before, even being this far into negotiations is the story.
