Whoopi Goldberg is stepping away from her hosting chair on "The View" for two weeks — not for a health issue or a dispute, but to shoot a new Netflix comedy from Barack and Michelle Obama's production company.

The Netflix Project

Goldberg will film "Women Like Us," a comedy from the Obamas' Higher Ground Productions, alongside Jennifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams and Vivica A. Fox. The film follows a recently widowed woman whose sister and longtime friends whisk her away to the Hamptons on what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary.

Who's Filling In

Goldberg will still appear on Mondays during the two-week stretch. Four former co-hosts are rotating through her seat Tuesdays through Thursdays: Lisa Ling and Star Jones are each set for two episodes, while Debbie Matenopoulos and Sherri Shepherd will each host one.

Not Her First Time Stepping Away

This isn't the first time Goldberg has set her hosting duties aside to chase an acting role — she's done it before, and has said in the past that she's occasionally considered leaving "The View" behind for good. For now, though, this is framed as a temporary break tied to a specific project, not a bigger shake-up at the table.
